Useful information for a shore excursion in Tenerife
Information about the cruise port, the most beautiful sights and a lot of other useful information for cruise excursions in Tenerife, we have put together below.
The most beautiful sights in Tenerife
From afar you can already see how large Tenerife is when you spot the landmark of the island, the Pico del Teide. But the island has much more to offer than just this impressive volcano. While the vegetation around the mountain is diverse, the coasts are full of beautiful beaches and blue water. Whether hiking, strolling, swimming, diving or surfing, with a Tenerife shore excursion – there is always something for everyone.
El Teide is at 12,198 ft the highest mountain in Spain and thus the third highest island volcano in the world. The region around it is designated as a national park, thanks to its diverse flora and fauna and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007. From the harbor you can reach the park within 2 hours by bus or car.
From there you can admire the unique vegetation and the volcanic-stone-dominated landscape. By cable car you go up to 11,778 feet. After previous registration, it is also possible to walk the remaining 656 ft and climb the summit of the volcano.
Playa de las Teresitas
In the east of Santa Cruz there is the “Playa de las Teresitas“. This former pebble beach was heaped up with the finest Sahara sand and since then has shone in dazzling golden yellow. Along the 0.6 mile long beach you can go swimming or visit the adjacent cafes.
The beach can be easily reached by bus line 910 or by taxi.
Puerto de la Cruz
Puerto de la Cruz can be reached within 30 minutes by car. The small town is considered a tourist center in the north of the island. Both the spacious promenade and the historic Plaza del Charco, with their numerous cafés, restaurants and small shops, are worth a visit.
In the immediate vicinity there are also numerous attractions such as the Lago Martiánez or Loro Parque Zoo.
Designed in the 1970s, the outdoor pool is a 4.4-acre swimming complex built directly into the sea and enhanced with palm trees and other plants. The swimming pool is open all year and the entrance fee is € 5.50 for adults, which is approximately 6.35$ or 4.80£.
On the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz there is the animal park Loro Parque. The park shows both land animals such as gorillas and tigers as well as marine life such as sharks and displays the largest dolphin show in Europe. In addition, the park also owns the largest collection of penguins in the world.

Canadian and US citizens do not require a visa to enter the Schengen area in Europe for tourism business stays under ninety (90) days. UK citizens neither need a visa to enter Spain , if they are staying no longer than 3 months. Make sure to carry a valid passport with you.

To explore other parts of the island, there are buses, taxis or rental cars. The former can be found at the bus station Intercambiador near the port. Interesting for island explorations are the line 103, an express bus to Puerto de la Cruz, and the line 910 to the Playa de las Teresitas.

Since Tenerife belongs to Spain, the Euro is used on the island. (1 dollar = 0.86 euro and 1 pound = 1.11 euro).
The Canary Islands have pleasantly warm temperatures all year round. In summer, however, it can also be hotter and drier. This part of the year also belongs to the high season on these islands. Nevertheless, there is a lot going on even during the winter months.
Therefore it is recommended to travel to the Canary Islands during the months of April, May, as well as September and October. On the one hand ther is consistently temperate climate and on the other hand, there is also fewer activities/things to do, which is why the prices are often cheaper.
