You meet your driver in the center of Honningsvag and off you go on your shore excursion to the North Cape.
High up in the western Finnmark in the north of Norway, the only thing that separates you from the North Pole is the archipelago of Spitsbergen. The North Cape is the northernmost point of the European mainland and lies at 71 ° North on the same latitude as Siberia and the tip of Alaska. Due to its unique location, the North Cape is one of the places from which you can best see the Northern Lights (in winter).
True to the motto “The journey is the destination”, you will experience a true adventure on your way to the North Cape. Equipped with helmets and all-weather suits, you can already enjoy the unique landscape on the ride in the open quad (the so-called Crew Cab), past small fishing villages, beautiful wildflowers and grazing reindeer. After about 30 minutes you have reached your destination, the North Cape.
Now enjoy the unique view. In summer, between the middle of May and the end of July, the sun does not set on the North Cape. Many visitors enjoy watching just the midnight sun or the sunset over the Barents Sea. When the midnight sun reaches its lowest level, there is hardly a more fascinating place in the north. An absolute must is therefore the visit to the impressive North Cape plateau in the evening. With over 984 ft of steep cliffs, it offers spectacular views across the Northern Sea. When the weather is good, take a picture of the impressive midnight sun in the sky over the northern tip of Europe.
The visit to the North Cape Hall is inclusive and definitely worth a visit. It holds various exhibitions throughout the year. In the basement of the North Cape Hall there is a cinema, the film takes visitors on a journey through the four seasons at the North Cape, through a fascinating landscape full of contrasts and light. The adjoining ecumenical St. John’s Chapel is the world’s northernmost and a popular wedding venue.
