Detailed product description

You will meet your tour guide at the agreed meeting point and you will make your way to your shore excursion in Molde and its surroundings.

Molde, or the “city of roses”, is known for its numerous green parks and public gardens. After you have collected the first indentations of the city, your excursion vehicle will take you to the traditional fishing village of Bud. During the panoramic drive you will pass the Romsdalsfjord, the Malmefjord and the Elnesvågen area, which are famous for the production of the delicious Jarlsberg cheese. Once you have arrived at the fishing village of Bud you will visit the Ergan fortress from the Second World War. Here you will get a comprehensive insight into the tragic history of Bud – but also the stunning views of the village and the ocean that awaits you.

You will then drive along Hustadvika – the infamous “Shipwreck Bay”. Soon you will notice the stark contrast of the landscapes: fertile land meets rugged islands and reefs. Finally, you will reach the impressive Atlantic Ocean Road, which has eight bridges. The 23-meter-high bridge and the other bridges provide an exciting contrast to the pristine nature. The Atlantic Road meanders in a zigzag pattern over the islands. It is no coincidence that the British newspaper “The Guardian” names the road the most scenic drive in the world and was awarded the title “Norwegian Construction of the Century”.

As you drive across the Atlantic Road, you will stop at Eldhusøya Island, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and local pastries in your free time. Alternatively, you will have the opportunity to explore the whole island on a hiking trail, which will take just 10 minutes. During the walk you will have a breath-taking view of the open sea. With some luck, you will even spot whales or seals on the horizon.

After the impressive drive over the Atlantic Road, it’s back to Molde via the town of Eide. Here you can admire the marble quarries of Eide, which serves as the main economic activity. A final photo stop will be made at the top of Mount Varden, here you will have an impressive view of Molde and the 222 peaks on the other side of Romsdalsfjord.

After a day full of spectacular sights, you will finally be brought back to your ship.

We wish you an exciting shore excursion in Molde and its surroundings!
