Discover all the highlights of Lanzarote and get to know the diverse landscapes of the island. On your journey across the island you will pass through numerous villages of historical importance and learn a lot about the culture, as well as some curiosities of the island that make Lanzarote a unique destination.
With your air-conditioned vehicle, which even has WiFi, you first drive into the Timanfaya National Park, an absolute must on Lanzarote! Volcanic activities have always shaped the island and its inhabitants. Discover the unique volcanic landscape, which was created in the 18th century due to 3 volcanic eruptions. Observe the enormous and at the same time enchanting world of the volcanoes and feel the still active volcanoes while you observe the geothermal activities that take place only a few meters below the earth’s surface.
Afterwards, the excursion takes you along the lava coast to the largest wine-growing region of the Canary Islands, La Geria. The vineyards in the region have been run by the farmers of the region for almost 3 centuries. The fields look like a great work of art because of the unusual way they are cultivated. The vines are inserted into funnel-shaped depressions and are surrounded by a semi-circular stone wall of lava stone. In this way, the plants do not need any additional irrigation, but extract moisture from the air.
Get an idea of how contrasting Lanzarote is as you roam the island from south to north. The name of César Manrique is closely linked to the island. The artist has not only achieved many positive things, but has also significantly embellished Lanzarote with his works. The grotto Jameos del Agua belongs to his most important works. In this closed fairy tale world you will feel the harmonious harmony between nature and culture. Manrique’s last work is the Cactus Garden in Guatiza. Here Manrique wanted to express artistically how important cacti were for the island in this area not so long ago. More than 1,100 different types of cacti from all over the world were collected here. Let yourself be enchanted by the unique flora, which varies greatly depending on the season.
Next highlight are the caves Cueva de los Verdes. The underground tunnels and caves were created over 3,000 years ago as a result of the volcanic eruption of La Corona. While the caves were used as protection against pirates in the 16th and 17th centuries, today they are a popular excursion destination because the underground volcanic tunnels are artistically staged with beautiful light and music.
At the end of an impressive day, your tour guide will take you back to your cruise ship relaxed.
