Your tour guide will meet you at the agreed meeting point and will welcome you on your exciting shore excursion today in Stockholm.
The short bus ride starts at a place called Fjällgatan – where you can get a good view of the city and the archipelago. The place is located in Stadsgården, an old harbor area that has recently been restored. The tour will take you to some of the islands that make up the city and you will definitely enjoy beautiful views of Stockholm and the Baltic Sea. You will see the Concert hall, where the annual Nobel Award ceremony takes place. After that you will continue our tour to the elegant district of Ostermalm.
Most of Stockholm’s sights are in the Old town of Gamla Stan and in walking distance. It is a true pleasure to drift through this maze of narrow, cobbled streets and at the same time discover old houses as well as historic buildings. You will see the Swedish Parliament and the House of Nobility, Riddarhuset.
On the neighboring island you can find the Riddarholmen church from the 13th century, one of the oldest buildings in Stockholm and also the burial place of the Swedish kings. The impressive Town Hall is located at the top of Kungsholmen Island. Every year the banquet takes place in the Blue Hall on the occasion of the Nobel Prize Award ceremony. Back in Gamla Stan you will see the Royal Palace or Kungliga Slottet, the official residence of the Royal Family. Afterwards you will visit the Cathedral of Stockholm, Storkyrkan. This cathedral is the oldest building in Stockholm and a magnificent example of Baltic Gothic or brick Gothic architecture. Directly opposite is the building of Stockholm Stock Exchange place with the Nobel Museum, Library as well as the Swedish Academy.
You will follow the Slottsbacken road in the direction of Stotorget, the main square in the historic city center with the world-famous colorful facades of the old merchants’ houses. Then you will go down the elegant Skeppsbron Avenue – this small island that you now see is home to most of Stockholm’s museums.
At the end of the tour, you’ll travel back to your cruise ship with your tour guide. Alternatively, you also have the opportunity to continue your shore excursion in Stockholm on your own and later return to the ship independently.
Please note that this excursion can only be offered to passengers, whose cruises are NOT mooring at the terminals Nynashamn or Kapellskar far from the city. Tell us the exact name of your cruise ship when booking.
