The most beautiful sights in Muscat
The capital city of Oman has a history of over 4,000 years old. Recently these past years it has been an increasingly popular port. The Sultanate traditional Arabic buildings provides a pleasant contrast to the skyscrapers in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
Muttrah
Muttrah is the historical center of Muscat. You can visit and establish genuine, traditional Arab markets and the fish markets. The muttrah Souk has had this tradition for over 200 years and is still a popular Bazaar.
On the beautiful beach stretching about a mile long is where locals and tourists often go for a walk. You will pass the Riyam monument, a huge incense burner. It also serves as a lookout point.
Great Sultan Qaboos Mosque
The main mosque in Oman is regarded as one of the most important monuments of the country and is located in the District of Bawshar. The detailed design combines the Islamic traditions from various periods and regions. You can visit it from Saturday to Thursday between 8 and 11 o’clock this also applies for non-Muslims.
Bait al Zubair
