Below you will find information about the most beautiful sights, a map of the cruise port as well as many useful information about Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The most beautiful attractions in Montego Bay
Montego Bay is located in the north and is one of the larger cities in Jamaica. In addition to Falmouth and Ocho Rios, it is one of the island’s three main harbors for cruise ships.
Montego Bay
If you visit Montego Bay, you will visit one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean. White dreamy beaches and turquoise waters invite you to relax, swim or play water sports. On the so-called “Hip Strip” on Gloucester Avenue, plenty of bars and restaurants line up side by side.
If you want to explore the city on your own, it is advisable to stay near the popular and tourist places. In other districts, it is quite dangerous due to the high crime rates between gangs.
If you want to explore the area’s attractions, you can set off from Montego Bay and head towards numerous shore excursions destinations.
Doctor’s Cave Beach Club
Doctor’s Cave Beach is one of Jamaica’s best known beaches among other several ones.
Let yourself relax on the white sandy beach and swim or snorkel in the turquoise water. The beach is also part of the Montego Bay Marine Park where you can admire the marine life in the coral reef. The approximately 15-minute drive from the port is highly recommended. Admission to the beach is $ 6 per person.
Martha Brae River
After a 45-minute drive you will arrive at Martha Brae River Rafting Village. Here you have the opportunity to experience the special river journey. You will descend the river Martha Brae, which later flows into the Caribbean sea on a 9-foot hand-made bamboo raft.
During the trip, you can enjoy a magical atmosphere with exotic flora and fauna along the banks. The ride with your raft captain takes about an hour. You can also leave the raft and swim in the refreshing river.
Dunn’s River Falls
After a good 1.5-hour drive from Montego Bay you can get to the popular Dunn’s River waterfalls – one of the main attractions of the island. The waterfalls extend over a distance of 200m (656 ft) until they finally flow into the Caribbean Sea.
Enjoy the spectacular scenery from a staircase next to the waterfalls. Step by step, you can climb up the slope. At most part of the route, the rocks are formed as steps in such a way that are easy to walk on. If necessary, other visitors or guides will help you. You can also take a break anytime to relax and swim in the water.
Map of the cruise port in Montego Bay
There are several cruise ship berths in the port of Montego Bay, about 5 km / 3.1 mi west of the city center (as shown in the Harbor Map). In the vicinity of the cruise terminals you will find a tourist information, first duty-free shops and numerous taxis. This makes it easy for visitors to get to the city center or beaches without having to walk long distances in the heat.
If you book a cruise shore excursion with us, you will of course be picked up directly at the port area near your berth.
