Taxis are mostly used because they are relatively inexpensive. From the old town you should pay about 10 or 12 Euro to get to the Dubai creek (which is 11.54 euros, 13.85$ and 10.76 pounds). To the Dubai Marina on the other end of town, the fare is about 30 euros which is approximately 40.40$. Some taxi drivers demand a surcharge of 5 euro, as so-called port fee. This however is not true and you should be aware not to pay for it.
Alternatively, the green metro line will take you from A1 Ras to the city center but you will need to take a taxi to the station. There are also free shuttle buses from shopping malls, Which will only take you directly to these specific malls located mainly in the city center. you can also take advantage of these buses yo get to the city center.

The Dirham is the currency in the United Arab Emirates. One UAE Dirham is equivalent to 0.23 Euros, 0.27$ and 0.21 pounds. You can exchange money directly at the cruise port, or use an ATM machine.
Moreover, you will have the opportunity to pay with credit card almost everywhere. Keep in mind that a small fee of 1 or 2% may apply.
The temperatures in Dubai are high throughout the year. Even in the winter, they drop rarely below 25 °C / 77 °F. You can quickly escape the dark winter in Europe or the US when travelling to the Orient.
In the summer the temperatures are too high and therefore a not the ideal time of the year for a cruise. Many shipping companies offer cruises to the Orient only between the months of October to April.
