Useful information for your shore excursions in Bergen

In addition, here are some information about your cruise terminals in Bergen and other main attractions in here.

The most beautiful attractions in Bergen

Bergen is a beautiful city with many attractions. A lot of cruise passengers, however, simply appreciate and enjoy the charming atmosphere of the Norwegian city. We therefore recommend a relaxed city tour through the Old town of Bergen as a starting point for your Bergen shore excursions.

Brygge is where the city history of Bergen started. The first houses and buildings were built in the 11th century. The historic port of Bergen also lies here. Brygge was built by the Hanseatic League. The old trading offices still adorn the waterfront along the Vågen Bay.

Old-Bergen (Gamle Bergen)

Gamle Bergen is an open-air museum in the district of Sandviken. It is located about 3 km (1.8 mi) north from the cruise port of Bergen. In the area of the museum, a total of about 50 traditional wooden houses from the 18th to the 20th century are extensively restored. Gamle Bergen is one of the top attractions in this port city.

Bryggens Museum

The Bryggens Museum is housed in a modern building in Bryggen. You can find exhibits here that can date back to the first settlement in Bergen in the 11th century.

Bergenhus Fortress

Fortress Bergen is one of the best-preserved fortresses in Norway, located just at the entrance to Vågen Bay. The Håkonshalle and the Rosary Tower were built by King Håkon Håkonsson in the 13th century and are still in good condition today.

Hanseatic Museum and Schøtstuene

The Hanseatic Museum Bergen is housed in one of the oldest buildings in the city. This traditional wooden house is the only one, whose interior has been preserved as how it was used by the merchants of the Hanseatic League. The Schøtstuene is not far from the museum. It served as meeting rooms for the merchants in the past.
